Pray for Dunn Memorial Baptist Church in Baxley, Georgia
Dunn Memorial Baptist Church in Baxley, Georgia, serves as a faithful congregation with deep roots in its community. Originally founded as Westside Baptist Church in 1941, the church later adopted its current name to honor a local young man named Dunn, who lost his life during World War II. Over the decades, the church maintained a steady membership; however, by the early 2010s, it faced a decline in Sunday School participation, attendance, and ministry involvement.
In October 2024, Ryan Clements stepped in as the interim pastor and transitioned to the role of pastor in May. He initiated Gospel-centered sermons, organized Sunday evening Bible study, and revitalized the Wednesday prayer time, sparking real momentum in the congregation.
As the neighborhood surrounding the church has changed, now including more low-income housing and apartment complexes, the church has shifted its focus. They have started a monthly Sunday evening outreach, and the congregation has responded powerfully.
The church actively participates in Appling Hope Center, a local outreach ministry that supports families displaced by last year’s hurricane. Dunn Memorial serves meals and prays with those still facing property damage, insurance challenges, and construction delays.
