Balmoral Baptist Church is pastored by Dr. Gregg Thomas. This Southern Baptist church, constituted in 1970, was once a thriving congregation in southeast Memphis. Over time, its attendance declined, but God is breathing new life into Balmoral. When Dr. Thomas was called as pastor in January 2025, there were 25 senior adults attending. Since then, the church has grown to an average of 30+ in attendance and recently celebrated its first baptism in over ten years!

Balmoral is strategically located within a two-mile radius of 55,000 people—ranging from affluent neighborhoods to low-income communities. The church is embracing revitalization with a renewed vision and passion. Their upcoming outreach includes adopting a local elementary school and a nearby apartment complex, hosting a community cookout, and launching Bible-based ministries to reach children, women, and families.

Prayer Requests

1. Pray that God will send at least 10 families—singles, couples, and parents with children—who are strong in their faith and willing to commit a couple of years to help lead, serve, and give at Balmoral.
2. Pray for open doors for Dr. Thomas to meet with pastors of Memphis-area megachurches who may be willing to “loan” some families to support this revitalization work.
3. Pray for continued good health for Dr. Thomas as he leads the church in this season of rebuilding and outreach.
4. Pray that God will raise up a volunteer to begin a youth ministry to reach the many young people who live near the church. Balmoral currently has no children, teens, or young adults attending, but the harvest is plentiful just outside their doors.
5. Pray for financial provision to cover the church’s basic needs and support evangelistic efforts throughout the surrounding Memphis communities.
6. Pray for spiritual protection over Balmoral Baptist Church—that the congregation would be united, safeguarded from the enemy’s attacks, and open to the changes necessary for growth.
